Beyond the moment

The enticement of the moment can be powerful. To overcome it, ask yourself what is in your future that is powerful and compelling enough to get you through the present? The world is full of distractions. What is it that keeps you focused? Life is filled with temptation. How do you maintain your discipline? What desire is bigger for you than the desire to get caught up in the meaningless distractions of the moment.

There must be something beyond the moment. The quality of the journey depends on how compelling the destination is for you. Living IN the moment is the only way to get anything done, but living FOR the moment keeps you continually spinning your wheels and getting nowhere.

A destination, by its very definition, lies beyond the present. What is your destination? How compelling have you made it? If you’re continually distracted and knocked off course, perhaps your dream should be bigger. Make your goals big enough to be compelling and meaningful enough to pull you irresistibly toward them. When you value and respect your own future, it will be bright indeed.
