Empty pursuits
How much money will saying “I told you so” put into your bank account? How many friendships will you build by proving that you’re right? How will envy ever improve the quality of your life? How many people will think more highly of you because you have sought to make someone else look foolish?
Every moment you spend putting others down is time that you have stolen from your own life, time which could better be spent building, creating, growing, and living.
You cannot raise yourself up by putting down another. All you end up doing is dragging the both of you down. Your time and efforts are precious, and they can bring you great things when used wisely. There’s no need to squander them on pettiness.
As often as possible, speak and think highly of others, and you yourself will benefit most.
