Goodness endures

There may be much to fear, yet always there is even more for which to live. Though the goodness of life can at times be overshadowed, it is never outweighed, not by a long shot. Look around you, look closely and with your heart. You will see that goodness shining brightly in nearly every direction.

For every person who is senselessly destructive, there are hundreds, even thousands, who quietly and selflessly stand ready to comfort and heal. For every act of violence, there are thousands of acts of love and compassion.

When tragedy strikes, or the challenges seem overwhelming, there is no shortage of people who eagerly step forward to help. When there is a job that needs to be done, someone will find a way to do it.

Ironically, in the most tragic and terrible moments it becomes undeniably clear that life itself is a priceless treasure that has no equal. And so goodness endures, made stronger by the very things that oppose it. It cannot help but do so. We are wise to let as much goodness into our lives as we possibly can.
