Forget yourself

One of the most effective ways to express, enjoy and fulfill the best of yourself is, surprisingly, to forget yourself. In your thoughts, take your own concerns out of the picture and you can experience more fully and more authentically whatever is there.

The most gracious and beautiful dancers are not concerned with how they appear during the performance. Rather, they lose themselves in the moment and are able to fully become the dance. The most effective teachers focus not on their own knowledge but rather on their students' understanding. Those who lose themselves in whatever they are doing are the ones who do it the best.

Think of a time when you've become so totally involved in the experience of life that you were able to forget yourself. Remember how fully and powerfully alive it made you feel.

Lose yourself in the moment and really listen, really sing, really read, really play, really worship, really love, really speak, really celebrate, really care. Free yourself from the useless limitations imposed by worry, regret, anger, and embarrassment. The more you can live beyond the chatter of your own ego, the more magnificent each moment will be.
