You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.

Get it behind you

Do the difficult things first. Do the uncomfortable, tedious things first. Get them out of the way. Get them behind you. Then you won’t have them hanging over your head. Then you’re free to really enjoy the fun things.

Is there something you’ve been dreading, something you know you must do but you just cannot bring yourself to do it? Get up right now and get started on it. Don’t wait another moment. It’s unpleasant enough that you have to do it. There’s no need in prolonging that unpleasantness by putting it off.

Get it done. Get it out of the way. The worst part of it is the anticipation, and you can put an end to that right now. Just go ahead and soon you’ll enjoy the freedom of having it behind you. Take a great big positive step forward. Get on past whatever you’ve been putting off. Lighten your load and you’ll move ahead faster than ever.
