Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable.

Today’s treasure

Somewhere in the day ahead is a precious hidden treasure, waiting for you to discover it. It won’t be shiny and gleaming. When you first see this treasure, it probably will not look like a treasure at all.

It may appear at first as something to avoid rather than pursue. And because of that, most people will pass it by. Will you? Look for treasures in the problems that challenge you, in the people who need your help, in the news that at first dismays you.

The most valuable treasures are rarely the ones which brightly and gleefully announce themselves for all the world to see. Just as the most precious gemstones are found beneath the surface, the best of life’s treasures require some effort to uncover and enjoy.

As you go through the day, be an active treasure hunter. Keep in mind that you’ll uncover the best treasures in the most unlikely and unexpected places. Look for treasures in every moment and you will surely find them.
