It is not only for what we do that we are held responsible, but also for what we do not do.

The MONTHLY Motivator - November 2014

Hope

Real hope is realized when you move beyond searching for hope outside yourself and begin to push hope out into the world from within your own desire for it. It is the desire for hope that manifests hope. The possibility for hope is always there, always. Nothing in the outer world increases or reduces that possibility. It is always there, within you, and yet it is manifest only by choice. As an internal reality, hope cannot be proved but it can be lived.

You give life to hope not by changing anything directly in the outside world, but by changing inside. Let go of the need for some kind of external validation of hope and instead let hope flow from the depth of your being.

What holds achievement back is the lack of hope. People give up on hope and they resort to other means. They bully. They plot to steal. They seek to gain power by using cruelty and terror. None of it ever works for very long. None of it ever produces a life of fulfillment and joy. None of it ever brings about the feelings that people desire. What does bring about those feelings? Authentic hope.

The world seeks hope, and looks for it in all sorts of places. It is in those places, but at the same time it is not. Where it is, is in you. In each person. When people have hope, they act on that hope. And that creates the conditions for more hope. When one person acts on hope, it enables others to act on hope. It is like a virus that can spread from person to person.

You don’t have to change the world to create hope. In fact it is the other way around. You create hope, and it changes the world. People spend so much energy trying to get certain politicians elected, or trying to “save” some aspect of life, or trying to cure some particular illness or societal ill, all in the name of creating hope. But hope is there for the living of it. You don’t have to save the world to create hope. Yet by creating hope you can save the world. You don’t have to have some complex program to improve life. You can improve life in an instant by letting your own life be guided by hope.
