Resiliency
All of us get knocked down, but it’s the resiliency
that really matters...the thing that distinguishes
athletes is the ability to do well in times of great
stress, urgency and pressure.
-- Roger Staubach
It’s not how many times you get knocked down that counts, it is how fast you can get back up. Everyone who is attempting anything worthwhile, will suffer setbacks. The faster you get past them, the less damage they’ll do.
The most frustrating setbacks are those over which you have no control. The best way to bounce back is to find something you CAN control. Find something positive that you CAN do and do it. Get past your frustration by shifting your focus to where you can make a difference. Maintain your momentum by continuing to be effective in some way. Delight in your accomplishments, and realize that you have what it takes to overcome any adversity.
When something has you frustrated because it is beyond your control, take action to ensure that you don’t get in that position again. Realize that you can take control of your own life, even if you don’t control the situation.
If anything is blocking your path, go around it rather than beating your head against it. Get back up, look clearly at what must be done, and then do it. The game is won by the player who can keep on coming back no matter what.
