Steady and sustainable

Sometimes drastic action is necessary, and it does get results. But it can quickly burn you out.

When it’s possible, and that’s most of the time, aim for an approach that’s highly sustainable. What you’re willing and able to do every day, month after month, for long stretches, ends up being immensely powerful.

In addition to looking ahead when contemplating your actions, visualize yourself looking back on them. Imagine it’s a year from now, and think of what you’ll be thankful for having done consistently, repeatedly.

By all means jump into action when you’re motivated to do so. Just make sure not to jump so fast and furiously that you can’t keep yourself motivated to continue.

Go ahead and feel one hundred percent of the intensity generated by your motivation. Then remind yourself to portion it out over time, so it doesn’t get used up all at once.

Create steady, sustainable, positive energy and actions in the direction of your objectives. Focus on what you’re able to continue doing again and again, and you’ll generate the power to do great things.
