Nobody can be so amusingly arrogant as a young man who has just discovered an old idea and thinks it is his own.

Forethought

Choose what energizes you, not what drains you. Do what makes a meaningful positive difference, not what leaves you with regret.

Ask yourself how thankful you’ll be tomorrow for what you’re planning to do today. If you cannot envision your future self as being satisfied with your actions, make other plans.

The path with the most desirable ending point does not necessarily have the most desirable starting point. Before you act, take into account where your actions will leave you after you’re finished.

You know from experience what will bring long-term value to your life. As often as possible, remind yourself to go in that direction.

Live well in the moment, but not at the expense of all the moments to come. The consequences you create today will be with you for a long time, so take care to make them positive.

The forethought and discipline you exercise now will serve you far into the future. This is your opportunity to make that future the best it can be.
