The self is not something ready-made, but something in continuous formation through choice of action.

What does it take?

What gets you going? What really gets you excited, enthusiastic and full of energy? What causes you to forget about the excuses, to look past the obstacles, to willingly and persistently take action? There are certain things that will inspire in you a depth of passion and commitment. Do you know what they could be?

Think of a time in the past when you were so excited about something you didn’t even want to go to sleep at night. Go back in your mind to a time when you were so enthusiastic about something you had trouble thinking of anything else, a time when ideas swirled through your head faster than you could write them down.

What was it about that time that touched you so deeply and profoundly? Everyone has different passions. What are yours? Though they may have been covered over by the overwhelming details of everyday life, your passions are still very much with you. Get in touch with them. Stay in touch with them, and they can push you positively forward toward exactly where you want to go.
