The MONTHLY Motivator - July 2014
Positive living in a troubled world
It seems that every day, new troubles are piled on top of the world’s already existing troubles. The news is filled with reports of brutal conflicts, frightening epidemics, senseless violence, lawlessness, corruption, abuse and tragedies of every kind. It can be difficult to remain positive when you’re constantly being bombarded with such troubling, negative information. And yet at such a time, remaining positive is more important than ever. After all, the answer to a world mired in negativity is certainly not more negativity. When there is darkness all around, it’s crucial to be able to shine your own positive light.
But how do you do that? How do you stay positive when there seems to be no reason for positivity?
Actually, there is always a very good reason to stay positively focused. That reason is simply this. It is the most powerful and effective choice. When things are good, being positive makes things better. When things are not so good, focusing on the positive possibilities and taking action based on that focus can make things much, much better. The best answer to conflict is not more conflict. The best answer to despair and disease is not to give in to them. The best answer to tragedy is not to become despondent about it. The best answer is to find a way to make a positive difference. To do that, you must be coming from a positive place. To do that, you must find a way to be positive yourself.
To help your world get to a more positive place, you must begin from your own positive perspective. If you wish to help the world, casting blame won’t help. Worry won’t help. What will help is a positive vision supported by positive action. Be the positive change you wish to see. Instead of complaining about how bad the world is, you can put yourself in position to take action and show the world how good life can be.
You certainly have a good reason to stay positive and to live in a positive, purposeful way no matter what may be going on in the outer world. So what are some strategies you can employ to stay positive and to be your best.
