Being thankful and appreciative

Taking the time to express appreciation is one of the most positive things you can do. It’s a big boost for the other person -- people love know that they’re appreciated. It’s a great feeling for you, too.And there’s no better way to encourage people to do their best, than to let them know you appreciate what they’re doing.

Beyond showing appreciation for other people, it’s important to cultivate a general attitude of thankfulness. Stop and think about all the good things in your life and be thankful for them. Too often we focus on our problems and shortcomings, and that only gives them that much more control over our lives. Being thankful for the positive things in our lives helps us to focus on possibilities for improvement.

Think of someone to whom you’ve never before expressed appreciation and make it a point to let them know you’re thankful for what they’re doing. Make a habit of being thankful and appreciative for the positive things in your life. When you nurture and encourage the good things instead of dwelling on the problems, your life will be full of joy.
