Potential treasure

The price of gold is currently near historic high levels. What is it that makes gold so valuable?

Its value comes from the fact that gold is so difficult to obtain. An average of 24 tons of ore must be processed to yield just a single ounce of gold.

If pure gold were as plentiful as the golden leaves that fall in autumn, it would not sell for thousands of dollars per ounce. As beautiful and useful as it is, you would likely have to pay people to haul it away.

A similar dynamic applies to pretty much any object, service, or experience. The more time and effort that must be put into it, the more value it has.

As such, avoiding effort results in separating you from value that could otherwise be yours. Putting forth fresh effort brings new value and fulfillment into your life.

Every day there is potential treasure available to you, ready to be mined. Put forth the effort, and bring that treasure to the surface where it can add great value to your world.
