Staying even

Sometimes it feels like all you’re doing is treading water. But keep in mind that treading water is a whole lot better than sinking to the bottom.

There’s more to making progress than always forging ahead. Part of making progress is maintaining the value of what you’ve already achieved.

Your muscles aren’t getting bigger every time you go to the gym, but neither are they wasting away. Keeping up the habit is essential, even when the results are less than spectacular.

Staying even doesn’t always feel like a win, but it is. Because it prevents you from falling back and having to make up for lost ground.

Eventually, you’ll arrive at an opportunity to add to your gains. When that time comes, you’ll be thankful for all the work you’ve done to maintain your good habits and values.

The efforts you put into staying even, provide the skills and experience to get ahead. Keep it up, refuse to slide backwards, and you’ll soon be moving forward.
