Firm with yourself

It’s easy to cheat on yourself. Be careful not to do it.

No one else is looking over your shoulder to make sure you honor your commitments to yourself. So it’s up to you to be diligent about doing so.

Sure, you can let yourself off the hook anytime you choose. You can buy into your own rationalizations without even the slightest pushback.

Yet in doing so, you’re only hurting yourself. And you really don’t want to do that.

Be steadfast about what you demand of yourself. Don’t let yourself get away with cheating, even when no one else will ever know.

You’ll know, and you’ll be disappointed, and the quality of your life will take a hit. So stand firm, do what you’ve promised yourself, and be every bit the great person you intend to be.
