Art for art's sake, with no purpose, for any purpose perverts art. But art achieves a purpose which is not its own.

What you live for

Do you really want to be happy, or do you just want to appear to be happy? Do you truly want to be successful, or do you just want to look like you are successful?

There are plenty of people who will tell you what it means to be successful and to be happy. What matters, though, is what it means to you. If you follow someone else’s dream, you’re not very likely to reach it. And even if you do, it won’t be worth the effort. Sure, it may look great to others. Sure, people might be impressed by you. But deep down, really, truly, is that all you want from the wonderful, priceless gift that is your life?

Of course not. You are truly unique. You are one of a kind, with an enormous potential for your own special greatness. Look beyond the desire to appear successful in the eyes of others. Ask yourself, with every ounce of sincerity you have, what you truly want your life to stand for.

What you live for, is what you’ll get. Make it the very best you can possibly imagine. Follow that most sincere, essential yearning in you and you’ll fill your life with true, meaningful success.
