Truth and encouragement

Offer truth and encouragement together. They work well with each other.

While truth is preferable to any alternative, it can be difficult to accept and to live with. That’s why genuine, understanding encouragement can be so helpful.

Yet when encouragement is received, it can sometimes be taken too far, leading to delusional thinking. That’s why truth must necessarily accompany it.

It’s easy to offer encouragement when you ignore the truth. It’s also easy to blurt out the truth when you don’t care about who it hurts.

Much more helpful is to temper truth and encouragement with each other. Though that approach requires more effort and understanding, it also yields more favorable outcomes.

Be committed to the transformative power of truth. And deliver it along with plenty of encouragement to maximize its positive impact.
