Good to be doing

by Ralph Marston

What if you refused to distinguish between what you have to do and what you want to do? Would your levels of resentment, restlessness, and anxiety decrease?

It’s actually quick and easy to eliminate that distinction. Because it exists only in your mind.

Imagine being just as fulfilled pulling up the weeds as you are when you admire the flowers and harvest the herbs. Not only is that possible, it’s all part of the same process.

The necessities of life do not exist apart from the pleasures. They serve to enable and even to enhance the pleasures.

It doesn’t really gain you anything to categorize some of your regular activities as undesirable and others as desirable. The very fact that you’re participating in something means it’s a part of your desirable and fulfilling life.

Make the choice to find some level of enjoyment, fulfillment, and gratitude in it all. No matter what you’re doing, it’s good to be doing.
