The Daily Motivator message for Quiet action Sometimes it can be helpful to announce your intentions. Other times your most effective strategy is to quietly undertake what you’re planning to do. When you make your intentions known ahead of time, you can gain some positive pressure from the expectations of others. That could push you to persist when you might otherwise abandon the effort. The biggest advantage of proceeding quietly is illustrated by the axiom that actions speak louder than words. People can see what you’ve accomplished, so there’s no need to waste their time talking about it in advance. In addition, if merely talking about your plans garners positive feedback, you might be tempted do avoid the action altogether. When your intention on its own makes you feel impressive, why bother with actually following through? Quiet action, on the other hand, gets real results. Rather than watering down your intentions by talking about them, action transforms them into value. Many times you have a choice about letting others know what you intend to do. Whether you share your intentions or not, what’s always most important is to act on them. © 2026 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.From The Daily Motivator website at http://greatday.com/motivate/261001.html |
