And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

Graceful energy

by Ralph Marston

You’re going to encounter inconvenience, awkwardness, and discomfort. Don’t allow your attitude to make them worse than they already are.

You can make many situations a lot less unpleasant by simply refusing to assume they’re unpleasant. Instead of giving in to your own assumptions or those of others, focus on the reality of the moment.

Is the experience you thought would be so bad, really so bad? Mentally step back, look objectively, and you’re likely to notice you’re getting through it just fine.

Certainly there are real dangers and serious troubles that are best avoided. But that’s no reason to react to every minor adversity as if it’s a major catastrophe.

Keep in mind that your attitude and the direction of your focus are entirely yours to control. Rather than getting trapped in a self-imposed state of victimhood, choose a more empowering perspective.

Instead of making a taxing circumstance into a difficult day, activate your curiosity, sense of humor, generosity, purposefulness and other positive qualities. For yourself and for the sake of those around you, inject some graceful energy and see how much better everyone feels.
