Patience, taken too far, becomes cowardice. There is a time to shut up and do something.

All the days to come

by Ralph Marston

The latest things are enticing. But the lasting things are what give meaning and enduring richness to your life.

Enjoy each moment as you live it, and make the most of it. Take care not to do so in a way that compromises your future.

The present moment with its potential thrills and novelties will quickly be over. Yet the future with its continuing demands and obligations will continue a whole lot longer.

If you miss out on the latest thing, there will be plenty more. But if you compromise certain aspects of your future, it can be very difficult to replace those.

Emotions, desires, and priorities that pop up quickly in your life are likely to be forgotten just as quickly. It’s best to give more of your time and attention to building value that continues beyond next week, or next year.

With each new day, it’s great to bring new things into your world. Just be sure you’re not doing so at the expense of what you can depend on to sustain you through all the days to come.
