The long game

by Ralph Marston

When you’re too ambitious you put yourself in danger of burning out. At the other extreme, if you become too complacent there’s a good possibility of sliding backwards.

Aim for somewhere in the middle. Push yourself to do more, but not so much that you endanger the progress you’ve already made.

Avoid the unforced errors that are sure to come when you’re constantly out of balance. Be appreciative about the value you’ve created, and eager to add to it with sensible, sustainable effort.

Enjoy what you’ve earned. But never take it for granted.

Balance ambition with satisfaction. Enjoy the moment you’re in while also working to ensure a rich and fulfilling future.

Play the long game. With good balance, you’re able to go far.
