Tomorrow morning the critic will be gone, but the writer will still be there facing the blank page.

Allow silence

by Ralph Marston

Not every situation benefits from constant annotation. Sometimes it is best to simply let the moment be.

There are times when your words will help immensely. Other times, your quiet presence can matter even more.

Silence is a valuable yet increasingly rare experience. Silence provides quality space for focus, contemplation, understanding, and connection.

In silence you’re able to encounter the reality of your own existence, of all existence. That can be daunting, and at the same time highly empowering.

It’s entirely possible to fill every day jumping from one noisy distraction to another. But if you completely avoid silence, you miss out on priceless components of life’s richness.

At those times when it is appropriate, allow silence in your life. Give yourself and others the chance to discover all that silence has to offer.
