To the point

by Ralph Marston

Get to the point. Focus on the objective.

What particular number do you intend to hit? By what specific date is all the work to be completed?

The best of intentions will go nowhere if they are vague. To make anything happen you must be clear about precisely what it is.

By defining the goal, you’re also able to define what is to be done to reach it. You must have the blueprints for a building before the lumber, concrete, pipes, and wiring can be ordered.

Specificity enables you not only in a practical sense, but also psychologically. When your thoughts are filled with precise details, you naturally become more motivated to work at setting them all into place.

Give yourself the extreme advantage of knowing exactly what you intend to do, and why. Then persist in adding effort, and you’ll get it done.
