Humbling experience

by Ralph Marston

It can be helpful to be humbled. It can be good to be reminded that you don’t have all the answers.

When that happens, don’t lash out in resentment or hide away in resignation. Each in their own way, those are weak responses.

You are human, and that’s a beautiful, powerful thing. You can learn and grow from every experience.

Being humbled gives you the opportunity to deepen your empathy. It enriches your understanding of how life’s vagaries can exert their influences.

You also gain a renewed determination to more fully prepare yourself for unanticipated challenges. By knowing firsthand how inadequacy feels, you are motivated to become more competent, capable, informed, and present.

When life hands you a humbling experience, take it in stride and open yourself to its lessons. Quickly move forward, stronger than ever before.
