Rest and escape

by Ralph Marston

The desire to give up and to let things slide is understandable. By its very nature life is difficult, and you cannot avoid growing weary.

It is often helpful to take a short break from your diligence and discipline. You benefit greatly from the opportunity to relax and catch your breath.

But completely and permanently walking away from your responsibilities will never improve your life. Sooner rather than later, you’ll be forced to face life’s challenges.

You simply cannot escape those challenges. The best you can do is choose to confront them on your own terms, with intention, focus, honesty, and strength.

As difficult as life can be, it becomes even more difficult when you refuse to deal with the difficulties. Fortunately, life can also be very good in spite of its problems, when you’re purposeful about handling each problem.

Rest and escape for a little while when you’re weary, and do so with the intention of coming back stronger than ever. Then continue to put forth good, focused effort to make life into the best it can be.
