Nothing is easier than self-deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes to be true.

What works

by Ralph Marston

Focus on what works. Make more of it.

Understand what works, and understand why. Do what you can to apply that understanding in lots of other ways.

It’s easy to see what’s not working, yet there’s little value in fretting over it. Seek instead to replicate and expand on what has worked well, and what continues to do so.

Many great ideas fail to turn out so great in practice. When that happens, cut your losses and change direction.

Often, what works best is not particularly stylish or sophisticated. Yet results are what matter, and if a mundane, tedious approach delivers a consistently valuable outcome, go with it.

Remain open to all the options, and put forth the effort to determine which ones are most effective. Then go with, and stick with, what works.
