Away from frustration

by Ralph Marston

Anything that frustrates you also energizes you, and can push you to take corrective action. But what if the source of your frustration is entirely beyond your control and influence?

Even in that case, you still have options. Instead of letting your frustration get the best of you, take time to calmly examine the situation.

Is there a possible path for you to gain more control over what is creating the frustration? If so, develop a plan, put it into action, and get yourself positioned to fix the problem.

If that’s not possible, another option is likely more accessible. You can take steps to remove yourself from the influence of whatever is causing your frustration.

Look for alternatives, such as different products, providers, services, processes, situations, or routines. Though a change might cause temporary inconvenience, the ultimate benefit is freedom from the source of your frustration.

Rather than being dismayed by frustration, look realistically for what you can actually do about it. Assume you have options, and give yourself the chance to get permanently away from what frustrates you.
