So is cheerfulness, or a good temper, the more it is spent, the more remains.

Make it better

by Ralph Marston

You can make a difference, even when you are dismayed, especially when you are dismayed. Because your dismay means that you care.

And when you care, you have a preferred direction. What you must do is find a way to move in that direction.

Your dismay is not a reason to give up. It is a starting point for going forward.

When it is possible to be dismayed, it is also possible to be inspired. Ask yourself what would inspire you, and align your thoughts with that source of inspiration.

Even when you cannot change the conditions leading to your dismay, there are plenty of other positive steps you can take. Let your dismay prompt you to think of what you care about and to act in its service in whatever ways you can.

Rather than endlessly giving in to dismay, overwhelm it with positive action. Though you will never make the world perfect, there’s much you can do to make it a whole lot better.
