Positive and realistic

by Ralph Marston

Is it realistic to be positive in certain circumstances? Actually, that’s not the issue.

Yes, reality is important to take into consideration. Yet your attitude and your perspective can be just as important, if not more.

The reason for a positive attitude is not because the situation justifies it. The reason to be positive is because that best positions you to improve the situation.

If you wish to bring the best possibilities to life, you must first be able to envision them. So by all means focus on reality, and do so from a positive perspective.

Know that there’s good potential even in troubling realities. Then you can do the work to uncover that potential and capitalize on it.

When it’s unrealistic to see the bright side, that’s precisely when seeing the bright side is the best choice. It’s a powerful combination to be realistic about what is, and positive about what can be.
