Seek cooperation

You don’t end an argument with more and more arguments on top of it. You end an argument with cooperation.

When you agree to disagree, you’re likely to find even more areas of agreement. That gives you a solid basis for cooperation.

No two people have ever shared the exact same perspectives and opinions. Yet countless people have been able to work together, sometimes in massive numbers, to create good and useful results.

If you routinely dole out punishment to those who disagree with you, the person who ends up being punished most is you. Do yourself and everyone else a favor by seeking to find and maintain common ground.

Cooperation is not always possible, yet it’s always helpful to set it as an initial expectation and to work sincerely toward it. The more people you’re able to cooperate with, the richer your life will be.

You don’t have to abandon your values or opinions, but neither do you always have to prove you’re right. Sincerely seek cooperation, and most of the time you’ll be able to achieve it.
